How It Works

1. The Project Environment

Everything in Nexto.do starts with a Project. Projects are dedicated workspaces where you can stay focused alone or collaborate seamlessly with a team.

Lists & Organization

Create multiple Lists to represent your workflow stages. Use drag-and-drop to move tasks between stages or reorder lists to fit your process.

Team Collaboration

Invite members via email, manage roles, and assign ownership. Use the Comments thread in each task for direct communication.

2. The Task Lifecycle

Tasks in Nexto.do follow a high-precision lifecycle. Understanding these statuses is key to knowing what to work on next.

New

The initial state of any task. It represents items that have been captured but not yet processed or assigned.

In Progress

Work is actively being performed. Tasks automatically move here when assigned or when their blockers are cleared. The spinning animation helps visually identify active tasks.

On Hold

Paused tasks. A task is "On Hold" if it is blocked by time or by another task's completion.

Done

Work is completed. Marking a task as "Done" will automatically signal any blocked tasks to move into the "In Progress" state.

Canceled

For tasks that are no longer necessary. This state preserves the record without affecting active metrics.

3. Automation Engine

Automate repetitive work with trigger-action rules on tasks and lists. Configure once, and Nexto.do applies changes automatically when conditions match.

Task Triggers

Run actions when another task reaches a specific status.

Schedule rules to execute at an exact date and time.

Actions

Each trigger can apply one action to a target task or to any task entering a list.

4. Bulk Operations

Managing large projects requires efficiency. Use Selection Mode to clean up your lists.

Click the Selection icon in any list header to enter selection mode. Non-finished tasks will be grayed out, allowing you to select multiple "Done" or "Canceled" items and use the Trash icon to delete them in one go.

5. Real-time Sync & Collaboration

Nexto.do is built for absolute focus, whether you work solo or as part of a high-speed team.

Membership & Roles

Project Owners can invite others via email. Choose between Editor (can modify tasks) or Viewer (can only see and comment). Membership management is centralized in the project header, making it easy to see who has access.

Live Updates

When a teammate makes a change, your board knows. We use WebSockets to sync updates instantly. If a major update happens while you have unsaved edits, a "New Version Available" indicator will appear, allowing you to reload and stay in sync with a single click.
